Crossing guards are only provided for elementary schools by the Memphis Police Department through coordination with the SCS Safety & Security office.  Currently, only existing SCS elementary schools that are transitioned to the Achievement School District would maintain the crossing guards.

The schedule for the crossing guards is determined by the Memphis Police Department based on the school bell (start/end) schedule that is provided to the ASD, as required, prior to the start of the school year.  If a crossing guard is unable to report for duty, the MPD will provide an officer to assist with crossing guard duties if one is available.

ASD charter Operators with middle schools, high schools or 'new start' elementary schools would be responsible for providing their own crossing guards.
