Assessment Accommodations Memo and Guidelines

Please closely review the memo (here), which provides educators an additional resource to use when selecting accommodations for state testing. Read aloud guidance and the calculator policy are specifically addressed.
Also, please reference the previously shared assessment accommodation guidelines for the 2016-17 school year. The guidelines have been posted to the department website here. The web updates include documents for grades 3–8 and high school End of Course, as well as the alternate assessments and the optional grade 2 assessment.

In an effort to increase understanding of the multi-layered system of support for students assessed on the general assessment, the department has created an additional resource for use. The accommodation chart (here) is divided into categories of IEP/504 plan and EL status and provides the full list of testing conditions, accessibility features, and accommodations. The accommodations will be adjusted in the EasyIEP system in the coming month to align with this chart, and further communication will be disseminated prior to changes being made. If you have any questions, please contact Lori.Nixon@tn.gov
